Overcrowding in Beaver Falls schools led to several new schools being erected in the 1880’s, including the Eighth Avenue School in 1888. It contained eight classrooms and served elementary level students for many years. It was enlarged and improved several times over the years. It was in use by the local school system for many years. It was located on Eighth Avenue – between 17th and 18th Streets – and right next door to the 17th Street School (white building). A third school, the Seventh Avenue School, was built on this same block in 1910 and located behind the 17th Street School. (c1908) Full Size |
