Shenango River Pump House - Mahoningtown PA

Text Coming Soon!

This unusual structure sits in the Shenango River, along the former P&LE/B&O tracks, just south of the Mahoning Avenue Viaduct in New Castle. Its purpose remains a mystery at this time, but it may have been a pump house to draw water to the former tin plate mills of the Shenango Works. Any input is appreciated on this one. (2012)

This aerial photo reveals the location of the structure on the west bank of the Shenango River. The former tin plate mills of the Shenango Works can be seen directly behind it. (c2010)
