The 1940 Beaver Falls Browns, led by manager Frank Oceak, played in the minor league Class D Pennsylvania State Association. They finished the season in third place with a 52-56 record. They knocked the first place Johnstown Johnnies out of the playoffs 3 games to 1, but were swept 3-0 by the powerhouse Butler Yankees in the finals. Oceak (kneeling – second from right end) was later a member of the Pittsburgh Pirates coaching staff under skipper Danny Murtaugh that won the 1960 and 1971 World Championships. Full Size
