There was a passenger station West of this bridge about a 1/2 mile. Vehicle access was from a drive before the bend going up Mt. Jackson Hill. I took the train from this station when I went to Pitts. for induction into the Air Force in 1956
John Hake, I’m glad you mentioned this station because I have been looking for a reference to it for years. My parents, along with 4 year old me and my 6 year old sister, moved from Bessemer to Pittsburgh in 1948. During holidays, my parents would put my sister and me on a train in Pittsburgh, tell the Conductor where we were to get off and my grandfather would be waiting for us at this station. Can you imagine two young children traveling by themselves today? The access road to the station was a cinder road. People in those days, 1948-1952, didn’t go into the station but waited for the train to arrive in their cars alongside the tracks.
