Savannah School - Shenango Twnp PA

Text Coming Soon!

The one-room Savannah School, located at the general intersection of Savannah Gardner Road/Savannah Road/Pennsylvania Avenue Extension, was erected sometime prior to 1870. It was one of many one-room schools to serve the students of Shenango Township. It was closed down in June 1928 and its pupils – along with kids from eight other schools – began attending the new Shenango Township Consolidated School on Old Pittsburgh Road. I believe the teacher at top right is Miss Isabelle B. Book, the twenty-year-old daughter of Thomas and Rose Book of Miller Street in New Castle. (Feb 1913) Full Size
