In 1847, after a dispute involving the issue of slavery, about two-thirds of the members of the Mt. Pleasant Presbyterian Church in Darlington broke away to form their own church. They were led by the Reverend A. B. Bradford and they erected a building in Darlington, which they called the Free Presbyterian Church. A cemetery was also established beside the church. In 1867 the congregation aligned themselves with the Reformed Presbyterians and became known as the Darlington Reformed Presbyterian Church – usually called the “Brick Church” or “Red Brick Church.” (c1900) Full Size |

My Grandmother was Ila (Ramsey) Buck, a daughter of Nathan Ramsey and I believe a sister of your Grandmother Edith (Ramsey) Elder. I have been looking for info regarding your Grandparents Place of burial and also info on their 5 sons and wives ie. where they are now. Hope I have the correct family! Thanks Steve

Steven,
My Father passed away in 2015. He and my mother are buried at Seceder Cemetery in Darlington PA. My Grandfather (Chalmers) and Grandmother (Edith) are buried there along with their parents and grandparents going back many generations.

A few years ago I found that my 3rd gr grandparents Jonathan and Hadassah Rhodes are buried in the church graveyard, as well as a number of other Rhodes ancestors of mine. I would love to know if old church records exist and especially old marriage records.

I’m doing research on my Brittain family. My great great grandparents John Brittain and Margaret Ann Rhodes Brittain, as well as my great grandfather Gustavus Adolphus Brittain are buried in the church cemetery. Are there any old church records of births, baptisms, or marriages that might exist?

We are looking for records of our ancestors who are buried here and attended this church. Who would I speak to or where would I look for old marriage, birth and death records?
Information specifically pertaining to the Hannah and Courtney families.
Many thanks

My great grandfather Thomas James McLaren married Olive Josephine Elder on 12/19/1895 and I’m looking for a record of that marriage. This seems like a likely location.
My grandparents lived in New Brighton and my parents lived in Erie.
Any help would be much appreciated.
