The new $2.5 million Union Area Middle-Senior High School (shown above) opened for classes on Camden Avenue in September 1961. It was built behind the old Scotland Lane Public School, which subsequently served as an elementary school. The new Union Area School District, established in July 1961, served the students of Union Township and also the former Edinburg Independent School District. (c2009) Full Size
